Winners were announced across 24 categories at the 2013 QantasLink Hunter and Central Coast Tourism Awards held at Wests New Lambton on Wednesday August 14th. Attended by more than 270 of the Hunter and Central Coast tourism community, the night was celebrated 1920’s style with everyone dressing up and looking great for the occasion.
Sand Dune Adventures was nominated in the Indigenous Tourism Category for it’s ‘hands-on and interactive’ adventure into the richness of Aboriginal culture and heritage all the while providing clients with the exhilaration of riding a Kymco 400cc Quad Bike, guided by experienced Local Aboriginal Guides.
Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council (WLALC) CEO – Mr Andrew Smith said, “The magnificent sand dunes have been a targeted tourist destination for many many years and continues to offer visitors an array of activities including beach fishing; camping, 4x wheel driving and even public all terrain vehicle access to the only gazetted Recreational Vehicle Area in NSW. We (the Worimi Aboriginal Community) felt that it was time people understood the rich local Aboriginal cultural significance contained within the land and appreciated that when they visit this magical place, they are essentially stepping back in time to a traditional landscape.”
